Winter Sun: Radiant Makeup for Cold Weather
These days I only put on makeup to take pictures in front of my window inside my apartment. It’s like that right now. And that’s okay.
Since I’ve had so much time to experiment, I’ve come up with an easy, natural winter makeup look that focuses on moisturization and glow. I’ve listed each step and linked all of the products that I use in case your makeup collection is in need of a revamp.
Let’s get cute, shall we?
Skincare Prep
Step 1: Farmacy’s Deep Sweep 2% BHA - Incredible for toning and exfoliating, leaving you complexion smooth and even.
Step 2: Kiehl’s Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil- Keeps breakouts at bay underneath makeup and soothes any irritation and redness.
Step 3: Weleda’s Skin Food Moisturizer- A year-round essential for me. Provides the perfect amount of hydration before using a matte foundation.
Step 4: Glossier Priming Moisturizer Balance- I apply this to my T-zone where I tend to get oily. It keeps you mattified and blurs the appearance of pores.
Step 5: Black Girl Sunscreen- Leaves a dewy finish and no white-cast. Prefect for melanated people!
Base
1: Mabelline Matte + Poreless Foundation- When applied with your finger, this foundation has a beautiful skin-like finish.
2: Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Mascara- I apply this under my eyes and on blemishes. I love this product because it’s buildable and easily blended.
3: Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder Foundation- I’ve had this product for a ridiculous and probably unhealthy amount of time but it’s just so good. I dust it across my T-zone to combat shine and bake any blemishes.
Eyes
1: Givenchy Eyeliner- I don’t have many eyeliner tips but I will impart what little wisdom I have onto you: follow the natural arc of your lash line, use q-tips to sharpen the flick, and pray that your wings are even. That’s all I got.
2: Milk Makeup Kush Mascara- This mascara elongates your lashes without being clumpy. I recommend it if you like a more natural look.
Cheeks
1: Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer- I use this for light contouring benath my cheekbones, on my chin, my forehead and along the sides of my nose. it can also be used as a super natural looking eyeshadow.
2: Glossier Cloud Paint - I will never not have this product in my makeup collection. it provides the perfect wash of color to your cheeks.
3: Anastasia Sun Dipped GlowKit- Highlighter is my favorite park of my routine. This collection is shimmery and subtle adding a beautiful shine to the high points of your face.
Lip
1: Fenty Gloss Bomb in Hot Chocolit- The best shimmery lipgloss on the market. Periodt.
Final Touch
1: Heritage Store Rosewater Spray- This 100% rosewater spray is excellent for setting your face. Apply generously.
Well there you have it! Winter makeup is 95% skincare and 5% makeup: it is so important to start with a moisturized base. Dry and flaky skin will make product application a nightmare. Make sure you’re exfoliated and moisturized for the Gawds before you apply any makeup.
