Utility

This utility-style jumpsuit and I have been through quite a bit together. We've survived a chilly San Francisco summer, some wild Halloween festivities (I dressed up as a janitor complete with a bottle of Windex, naturally) and some frigid winter days in NYC.

This jumpsuit, the product of a sick Urban Outfitters and Dickies collaboration caught my eye while on a shopping trip in San Francisco at the Westfield Mall this past summer. It was on the sale rack at Urban Outfitters and I snagged it for $50.

I was instantly drawn to it because of the flashy gold hardware and androgynous shape. When I tried it on, I was pleasantly surprised by the more fitted and feminine vibe that it took on. After I'd snapped a few pics in the dressing room, I knew that this would become a staple in my closet.

For this look, I paired the jumpsuit with a striped, tissue turtleneck from J. Crew to provide some contrast and to layer. It was about 20 degrees when these pictures were taken so I'm wearing some fleece lined leggings underneath to keep me warm.

While this jumpsuit is pretty dope, I must confess that my favorite part of the look is definitely my beanie.

I got my "Boujee" beanie at Artists and Fleas, an artisan market in SoHo. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I was thinking about getting it in either gray or black but thought white was unique and provided a great contrast to darker-hued winter-wear. Not only is it good quality and super warm, it's also a conversation starter. So many people have asked where I got it. The brand is ALIENSofBrooklyn and you can shop their Esty collectionhere.

I finished off the look with some sunglasses, gold hoops, my gold Fossil watch and my Doc Marten, heeled-booties. Keeping accessories simple is key when you have a statement garment like this jumpsuit. I wanted the suit to be the focal point of the outfit and chose to accessorize with understated pieces to achieve a sleek, street style look.
