Christmas Time in the City

Everything always seems to be bigger and better in NYC and Christmas is no exception. New York is without a doubt the place to be during the holidays. The city seems to light up even more than usual as the streets are decked-out in decorations and crowds of holiday shoppers. Being immersed in the holiday bustle in the center of Manhattan was an experience to be had, and I loved every second of it! Today, I'm giving you a rundown of my week in New York and all of the typical "NYC at Christmas time" activities I got up to while there.

Monday, December 14th

My mom and I boarded our flight to NYC at 10:00 Monday morning. We each carried on one personal item and stored our small suitcases in the overhead bin. I could not believe that I fit 4 days worth of outfits in just a backpack and small suitcase. Mad props to meeeeee for not overpacking this time around.

Once we checked into the hotel and got some food, we ventured out on our first shopping excursion. I wore the outfit shown above. We walked down Fifth and hit shops like Zara and Madewell, two of my favorites. I picked up the black version of my favorite sneakers, the Adidas Original Superstars on sale at Urban Outfitters. After I got them, I pretty much wore them everyday.

After a quick nap and an outfit change we went back out in search of a sleeveless coat (which I still haven't found). I stuck with my high-waisted jeans from Brandy Melville, but switched up my top and shoes for the evening time.

Tuesday, December 15th

Tuesday was audition day. I got up early, stretched, and spent the morning and afternoon at the Alvin Ailey studios dancing. After a very long six hours, Mom and I headed out into the city to do what we do best: shop! We hit another Zara, Urban Outfitters and Topshop (just to name a few). We also had to stop in at the ultra-festive Lord and Taylor to check out the shoe floor.

The windows at Sak's 5th were so over the top and luxurious that you couldn't help but gape at the intricate designs. These are a few of my favorite displays!

Of course it would not be Christmas in New York without seeing the massive tree in Rockefeller Center. So many lights!!!

Wednesday, December 16th

On Wednesday, we went down to Soho, my favorite area of New York and did a little damage. I was so happy that I got to take my new Topshop faux-fur coat out for a spin. I'm obsessed with it!

Thursday, December 17th

Thursday was spent waiting at the airport for a delayed flight. I wore leggings, a sweatshirt and threw on a fur vest to pull the comfy-cute look together.
