There's No Place Like Home

I'm back home in Buffalo for the holidays and Christmas prep is in full swing. I spent the past few days running errands with my mom, cooking for family and putting the final touches on the Christmas decorations.

The weather has been very mild in Buffalo which is pretty much unheard of for this time of year. Global warming is real people. I'm just sayin.

Since it hasn't been -10 degrees outside, I've been able to style some cute cold-weather outfits without having to wear my heavy winter jackets. I've compiled a few of my looks to create a bit of a winter lookbook.

90s Inspired

Bershka Collection Bag | Nike Air For 1 Sneakers

For this look, I drew inspiration from some 90s icons: think Ashley Banks from Fresh Prince, Monica from Friends and Denise Huxtable from A Different World. I stuck to a bright color palette and allowed the color block sweater to be the focal point of the look. The chain-fanny pack puts a twist on a classic 90s accessory and makes the look current.

Banana Republic Coat | Allsaints Bag

I wore this outfit to my sister's birthday dinner at Coco, a French bar and bistro in Downton Buffalo. The food was delicious and I may or may not have eaten an appetizer, bread, a salad, a full entreè, and dessert. Winter break calories don't count, okay? Okay.

Dittos Jeans | Dr. Martens Magdelena Boots

For this look, I wanted something comfortable yet elevated but I didn't have a top that I thought would work. Since most of my going-out clothes are back in NYC, I had to get creative with what I have here at home.

LACAUSA Dress

I took a sheer dress that I'd gotten from Modern Nostalgia a few years ago, tied a sash around it and made it into a long, flowing blouse. The different textures tied together by the continuity of the monochromatic color scheme made the look effortlessly chic and chill.

Articles of Society Jeans | Converse Boots

This look was really fun to style. I found this leather coat in the attic of my house and my dad told me that it's about 15 years old. It was a gift to him from my mother. I love items that have some history to them; it makes wearing them all the more special. Clothing can truly tell a story and that's why I love fashion.

I stuck with a retro vibe and paired the jacket with a simple black turtleneck, some Articles of Society flare jeans and a patch work Coach bag. My mom helped me style this look by contributing the purse and helping me to choose a belt to cinch the coat with. We stan a team effort!

I hope everyone is spending time with family this season, eating too much dessert and enjoying some much-needed downtime. Happy Holidays :)
