Grinch Glam

For those of you who celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a great holiday spent with family, friends and a lot of great food. My family hosts Christmas dinner at our house every year, so I was so happy to see all of our hard work pay off. The cooking, baking and decorating is always fun, but nothing is more satisfying than seeing your guests enjoy what you've made. For the third year in a row, my bittersweet chocolate, salted caramel tart was an absolute hit. Things I did: THAT.

Not only did I serve a delicious assortment of desserts this Christmas, I also served looks. 'Tis the season to be bossy, amirite?

For this holiday look, I wanted to mix classy and formal elements with casual pieces to create a relaxed yet put-together look. My metallic pants from J. Crew and my gold jewelry served as the formal elements that I dressed down with a flannel and black booties.

I hate being uncomfortable when I know that I'm going to be doing some serious eating and I must admit, this outfit was a little tricky. While the flannel is super comfortable and forgiving, these pants are more for standing and looking pretty. I made it work by unzipping a bit to accommodate my food baby. Laying down also helped.

Now, let's talk about this face. More specifically, these eyes.

I was very experimental with my makeup look, employing my stage makeup capabilities for statement eye. After all these years, I still got it :) I used the Anastasia Subculture palette to create a hazy, smoky and shimmery emerald eye. The pigmentation in this palette is incredible and the colors blended so seamlessly.

I finished off the look with a little Fenty Flyliner and some Maybelline mascara. As you can see, I was really feeling this look ya'll! I don't usually get so creative with my eyeshadow but I figured that Christmas was a great time to go a little crazy. My tip for doing a statement eye is to keep the rest of the face natural and simple. This allows the eye to be the focal point of the look and not be overshadowed by a bold lip or dramatic contour.

I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season. Stay tuned for a NYE outfit post coming very soon.

Be well, be merry and remember: winter break calories don't count!
