Well, that was fast.

2018 was a time. I'll spare you the Instagram post spiel and just say that while this past year was challenging, it was also incredibly rewarding. Regardless of what happened in 2018, we're still here keeping on and that's something to be grateful for and to celebrate.

While I don't really believe in making resolutions, I do share in the belief that New Year's Eve is an excellent excuse to put on some heels and throw a little party.

So, that's exactly what I did.

I hosted a little NYE get-together/ girls' night at my place last night complete with baked mac and cheese, molten lava cakes with ice cream, and an impromptu photo shoot. 2018 certainly went out with a bang.

For the party, I threw on this festive blouse and jeans combo which proved to be the perfect outfit for my hosting duties. The neckline of this blouse is so retro and timeless, it gives the look a classic feel that contrasts with the embellished denim.

My trick to creating a functional yet cute and party appropriate outfit is to start with a pair of well-fitting jeans. These embellished skinny jeans are the perfect going-out pants when paired with a fun blouse. Throw on a pair of strappy heels, some hoop earrings and voila: you've just perfected the cool-girl, night-out uniform.

For makeup, I stuck to a simple gold and bronze color palette to correspond with my blouse. I created my golden, smokey eye using my Urban Decay Naked palette and my Anastasia Subculture palette. This look is my go-to for a night out and looks great with a nude, glossy lip or a dark lip. We love versatility.

Needless to say, the party was a success. At midnight, I toasted with family and friends to the new year and all the adventures that lie ahead. I can only imagine what's in store for me and I'm excited to get busy livin. Stay tuned for some fun content coming in the new year!

As always, thank for reading being a part of the journey here at Morganification. I hope you all have a healthy and happy new year filled with more love than you know what to do with.

Here's to 2019.
