I Wish I Were Wearing: Slouchy Denim & a Slinky Blouse

Since being home, I’ve been spending a good chunk of my free time styling looks to wear once things begin opening up. I’ve been creating an outfit archive of sorts that I will be able to pull from once I begin going out again. I style a look, snap a photo and save it in an album on my phone for later use. If I ever have a “What do I wear?” moment, which is inevitable, I’ll have a collection of curated looks to refer to.

This is peak boredom y’all. Don’t judge me.

This styling project has been an exercise in both patience and hope that makes me excited about future plans. While I may not be able to wear these looks outside right now, I find solace in knowing that they will have their time in the sun. It’s the small things that keep me optimistic about coming out on the other side of this.

This first look is a favorite from the archive. I call it “Slouchy Denim Meets Slinky Blouse”.

This outfit is the perfect example of the minimal, sassy, androgynous vibe that I’ve identified as my default mode of dressing. I feel the most comfortable, cool and confident when my outfit includes a mix of tailored and loose silhouettes, incorporates pieces that are characteristic of classic menswear styles and has a touch of sultry femininity. This spring, I’ve been enjoying styling variations of this simple combination: a fitted, feminine top and a loose, slouchy fitting pant.

This backless turtleneck is from The Line by K , a small, female-owned brand based in LA. I discovered the designer, Karla Deras via her YouTube channel. The ethos of the brand is to provide quality, ethically created garments for confident women who know their style.

This top is so soft and breathable that I could easily sleep in it. It’s an elevated basic that is easily paired with denim, trousers or skirts. I even threw it over a slip dress for a sexy, layered look.

My slouchy jeans, courtesy of Frame, cling to my hips and fall easily down the line of my leg. I’ve become a big fan of straight leg jeans because they elongate my body and give an outfit a relaxed and carefree vibe. I feel very cool in these jeans and they’re extremely comfortable. What more could you want?

To complete this outfit I added minimal gold accessories that have a muted sheen and matches the hardware on my vintage bag. I don’t like my gold jewelry to be too shiny and find that my everyday, brushed gold pieces provide a classic and polished touch.

I plan to post I Wish I Were Wearing content every week while sheltering in place to stay creative. Stay tuned for more and please tell me what you wish you were wearing in the comments section. I’d love to know!
